Welcome to your GSC Updates for September 2010.

Hey there... well, it's that time of the month again, no not THAT time of the month (lol), time to start a new updates thread for this month. Not sure about were the rest of you are, but it's finally getting to comfortable high's in the 80°s instead of high's of 100°s here finally. Woo Hoo keep coming Autumn! Now don't forget the daily usuals here at the GSC Forums and check out the all new"Round Robin Challenge 2010" for this month along with keeping an eye out on all the new creations by our super talented Community Artists (as well as our excellent Regulars too!) along with updates across the world wide web of the Sims Community posted by our own Treasure Hunter, Aaliyah.

Also this month features the release of the 2nd Stuff Pack for Sims 3, "Fast Lane Stuff" which some of us around here are pretty excited about, I've even read that we will be able to develop and build "relationships" between our sims and their cars now! Oh and of course don't forget to keep checking out the Sims Chit Chat Forum to get the latest info about the much anticipated third Sims 3 Expansion Pack, "Late Night". Oh and I'd like to take the time to wish all of Virgo & Libra members all a very "Happy Birthday" and take the time to remind you that there's some very intersting holidays this month, September 6th is "Labor Day" and that September 9th is "National Teddy Bear Day" and don't forget that September 19th is "National Mushroom Picking Day"!!

Hey everyone. I just wanted to inform everyone that Hugh was in a serious car accident today. He's okay, but the car is totaled and he has a broken collar bone. He called me from the hospital, and he seems to be doing okay, but I am sitting here freaking out big time over it. I'm going to go to the hospital later to see how he's doing. I am just really fucking scared and freaking out right now. Now I know how he felt when I was in the hospital 2 years ago. Please, keep Hugh in your thoughts and prayers for me. I will keep you all updated.

Check out RedCliffs...

Hey everyone,

I was looking over at MATY in a "where to find good custom worlds" thread and someone put a link to newly created world, "RedCliffs" and I have
to say this is the most gorgeous custom world I've ever seen and figured I'd share it here. I only can dream that any world I ever create looks half as good as
this one turned out.

It can be found here... RedCliffs

Personally, I'd love to use it... but it shows a pretty long laundry list of CC used (objects & patterns) does anyone know if a custom
world will bundle custom objects and patterns, because I'd like to play it... but I don't use CC and don't want it to install it in my game.

Author's Note:

I decided to brave posting this story here on the GSC, so I decided to break it up just a little bit as the story is picture intensive. This is the prologue section to the first chapter, more as a taste test to see if its worth posting the entire saga from start to its current state, or maybe think up something different and unique to GSC.

Well anyway see what you think and I'll take it from there :-)

Chapter One: The Interview

Prologue: Hello / Goodbye

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y6/gaygolem30/Writers%20Block%20-%20Sims%20Story/01-Intro.jpg

"I told you on the way here babe, it won't matter how many times you look upwards you're not going to see it." I said to Robin.

"There's nothing up there." He exclaimed with disappointment.

I sighed, ever since birth I had been gifted with a sort of advanced second sight, so seeing orbs, spirits and everything else that was attributed to leading a spiritual life just seemed natural. So the fact there was a pure silver orb hovering over Robin, my boyfriend… sorry husband, was a source of frustration for him and amusement to me.

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y6/gaygolem30/Writers%20Block%20-%20Sims%20Story/02-Jae.jpg

"Come on, we'd best get the house sorted out, the reporter will be here in less than an hour. Has Jae got his things packed?" I said trying to divert attention.

"I spoke to him on the mobile, while you were dozing on the bus; he's moved the last of their things out of the big room and the keys to their place were dropped of early this morning." Robin replied.

"Good, I was a little worried things weren't going to work out."

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y6/gaygolem30/Writers%20Block%20-%20Sims%20Story/03-Off.jpg

Pushing Robin lightly, we made our way inside and after giving Jae a shout, we found him in my study, using the Orb of Zener again.

"Jae; what have I told you about using the ethereal connection for surfing?"

"I was searching the Witch Wide Web honest dad." Jae replied.

Robin looked to him and then to me, and casually without batting an eye at the fact our child was turning out just like me simply said to him;

"Off… go find Perun; the taxi's here..."

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y6/gaygolem30/Writers%20Block%20-%20Sims%20Story/04-Bye.jpg

As Jae left to go hunt his other half down, I turned to find Robin taking a seat at the Orb.

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y6/gaygolem30/Writers%20Block%20-%20Sims%20Story/05-Robin.jpg

"Robin; seriously our boy is just about to leave us and you're trawling for what this time?" I exclaimed.

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y6/gaygolem30/Writers%20Block%20-%20Sims%20Story/06-Comeon.jpg

"I'll only be a second; I just want to look up this Rachel Starr." Robin replied.

"No, you can do that after, come on."

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y6/gaygolem30/Writers%20Block%20-%20Sims%20Story/07-Farewell.jpg

After a little more insistence and a couple of withholding sex for every second that he remained on the Orb, Robin and I watched as Jae and Perun departed by taxi to their home a few miles away.

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y6/gaygolem30/Writers%20Block%20-%20Sims%20Story/08-Bubbles.jpg

"I'm going to grab a bath before the reporter arrives." I said to Robin as I shut the door.

"Okay, I'm going to play Sims 3. I want to see what our self-Sims have been doing."

With a long and relaxed sigh, I sank into the bubble bath, although our house was fairly out of the way from the rest of the town, I still wasn't keen on the big window right by the bath, no amount of blinds or curtains would change that over exposed feeling. After doing my routine cleaning ritual, I climbed out of the bath with reluctance and dressed again, as I opened the door, Robin stood there with a really long face.

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y6/gaygolem30/Writers%20Block%20-%20Sims%20Story/09-What.jpg

"What's happened?" I asked him slightly worried.

"Nothing…"

"No it's something, I can see it on your face, has the game crashed?" I paused, "Don't tell me something has happened to Jae!" I exclaimed.

"No it's nothing like that." Robin replied.

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y6/gaygolem30/Writers%20Block%20-%20Sims%20Story/10-Loveyou.jpg

"Then what is it?" I demanded getting worried.

"I was coming in to wash your back, and you're all dressed."

"Robin (!) What are you like?" I sighed.

"Tall, blonde…"

I giggled as he pulled me close and started to kiss me, before I had the chance to sigh as his obvious humour.

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y6/gaygolem30/Writers%20Block%20-%20Sims%20Story/11-Lovesonyou.jpg

"I love you." He said.

"Love you too." I replied.

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y6/gaygolem30/Writers%20Block%20-%20Sims%20Story/12-Excuseme.jpg

It was at this point that the phone started to ring, normally Jae or Perun would have answered it, giving Robin a smile, and he let me pass but not without a quick pinch on the bum.

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y6/gaygolem30/Writers%20Block%20-%20Sims%20Story/13-Hullo.jpg

"Hello?" I said picking up the phone…

Pollination Legacy

Hello and welcome to my sims 3 legacy using Pinstar's rules.

This is not my first time playing a legacy but it is the first time I have decided I would publish it as a story for others to read.
As this is my first time presenting a story of my legacy I welcome any feedback you wish to give me so I can improve it.

While my game was stuck with the version 0.0.0.0 bug, I began to write it up finally.
Thankfully my game now works again so when I finish writing up to where I've played I can continue.
I delayed publishing it just in case I couldn't figure out how to fix the game version bug and would have been unable to finish the legacy.

I will be using the optional Patriarchy rule and I will be using Twallan's master controller mod for pollination only, due to the nature of sims alien procreation procedures.

I know Myka has already posted his Baker Legacy which has a similar theme and I enjoy his work.
I started this legacy before I read his but his did inspire me to publish mine as a story so thank you Myka for the inspiration.

The Sims Medieval

I don't think anyone has posted this, so I thought I'd go ahead and do it!!

The Sims Medieval

We are delighted to announce The Sims™ Medieval, a new game currently in development that places the popular Sims™ characters from The Sims™ game into the Middle Ages and brings players robust, compelling gameplay never seen before in the history of The Sims. For the first time, players can create heroes, venture on quests, build and control a kingdom, and play every Hero Sim ™ character in the land. Creativity will soar as players tell stories like never before full of drama, romance, conflict, and comedy.

http://i381.photobucket.com/albums/oo257/PajamaRick/Sims%203/SimsMedieval1.jpg

The Sims Medieval offers players a chance to build up a medieval kingdom, controlling characters from all walks of life, from Kings and Queens, to Knights and Wizards, Blacksmiths and Bards. It provides a host of storytelling possibilities in the form of quests, from crafting a legendary sword to arranging a royal wedding, to protecting the kingdom from an evil sorcerer, to finding the fountain of youth. Every quest plays out differently depending on which Hero Sim the player is controlling.

http://i381.photobucket.com/albums/oo257/PajamaRick/Sims%203/SimsMedieval2.jpg

Players can choose to customize every new Hero that comes to the kingdom, including selecting their traits and their fatal flaw. Players get close to their characters, not only sending them on epic quests, but also making sure they carry out their daily responsibilities such as healing the sick, trading for exotic goods, or forging armour - what happens to their Sims is up to the player. The time of romance and chivalry is back with The Sims Medieval.

http://i381.photobucket.com/albums/oo257/PajamaRick/Sims%203/SimsMedieval3.jpg

It's not an Expansion or Stuff pack...but a stand alone game, much like the Sims Life Stories games were! Due for release in Spring 2011, it'll give Sims players a chance to actually play (albeit somewhat limitedly) in different time period! I'm actually interested to see how this game turns out...if they give us the option to play as elves, then I'll buy it!

A few noteworthy points...the Sims look somewhat less "pudding" here (don't know if that will translate to Sims 3) and, even if you're not interested in the game itself, the possibility of ripping some of the clothing, objects, animations out and putting them in TS3 is appealing (as they did with the Life Stories stuff)!

PROP 8 SHOT. Found UNCONSTITUNTIONAL

Alright, I copied the website and pasted but here is the breaking news.

Judge overturns Calif. gay marriage ban
Proposition 8 foes cheer while proponents criticize ruling in lawsuit
/ AP
Opponents of Proposition 8 cheer outside U.S. District Court in San Francisco on Wednesday after hearing of the judge's ruling overturning California's same-sex marriage ban.
SAN FRANCISCO — In a major victory for gay rights advocates, a federal judge on Wednesday struck down a California ban on same-sex marriage.
Chief U.S. District Judge Vaughn Walker ruled that the voter-approved ban, known as Proposition 8, violates due process and equal-protection rights under the U.S. Constitution.
The ruling met immediate criticism from Mormon and Catholic church leaders and cheers from gay-rights advocates.
"Moral disapproval alone is an improper basis on which to deny rights to gay men and lesbians. The evidence shows conclusively that Proposition 8 enacts, without reason, a private moral view that same-sex couples are inferior to opposite-sex couples," Walker wrote.
The judge added in the conclusion of the 136-page opinion: "Proposition 8 fails to advance any rational basis in singling out gay men and lesbians for denial of a marriage license."
His ruling came in response to a lawsuit brought by two same-sex couples and the city of San Francisco seeking to invalidate the law as an unlawful infringement on the civil rights of gay men and lesbians. The landmark case is expected to be appealed and could eventually reach the U.S. Supreme Court.
Outside the federal courthouse in San Francisco, a cheer went up among a group of about 70 same-sex marriage supporters carrying small U.S. flags, as a large rainbow-striped flag — the symbol of the gay rights movement — waved overhead.
Prop. 8 foes laud ruling
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and California Attorney General Jerry Brown, who both refused to back Prop 8 in court, praised Walker's decision.
"For the hundreds of thousands of Californians in gay and lesbian households who are managing their day-to-day lives, this decision affirms the full legal protections and safeguards I believe everyone deserves," Schwarzenegger said. "At the same time, it provides an opportunity for all Californians to consider our history of leading the way to the future, and our growing reputation of treating all people and their relationships with equal respect and dignity."
"In striking down Proposition 8, Judge Walker came to the same conclusion I did when I declined to defend it," Brown said. "Proposition 8 violates the equal protection guarantee of the Fourteenth Amendment of the United States Constitution by taking away the right of same-sex couples to marry, without a sufficient governmental interest."
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., called the ruling encouraging.
"We must continue to fight against discriminatory marriage amendments and work toward the day when all American families are treated equally," Pelosi said.
Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., said the ruling was an "enormous victory" and anticipated a Supreme Court hearing.
"The journey is not over, but today is a day to celebrate this historic victory for equal marriage rights," Feinstein said.
Prop. 8 backers outraged
Opponents of same-sex marriage derided the ruling.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which urged its top leaders to in California congregations top ask members to vote for Proposition 8, issued a statement on the ruling Wednesday, saying it "regrets today's decision."
"California voters have twice been given the opportunity to vote on the definition of marriage in their state and both times have determined that marriage should be recognized as only between a man and a woman," spokesman Michael Purdy said. "We agree. Marriage between a man and woman is the bedrock of society.
"We recognize that this decision represents only the opening of a vigorous debate in the courts over the rights of the people to define and protect this most fundamental institution — marriage."
The Catholic church also criticized the ruling.
Cardinal Francis George of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops also criticized the ruling: "Marriage between a man and a woman is the bedrock of any society," he said. "The misuse of law to change the nature of marriage undermines the common good. It is tragic that a federal judge would overturn the clear and expressed will of the people in their support for the institution of marriage. No court of civil law has the authority to reach into areas of human experience that nature itself has defined."
South Carolina Republican Sen. James Demint called the decision "another attempt to impose a secular immorality on the American people who keep voting to preserve traditional marriage."
"Traditional marriage has been the foundation of civil society for centuries and we cannot simply toss it aside to fit the political whims of liberal activists with gavels," Demint said.
Ruling on hold
Despite the favorable ruling for same-sex couples, gay marriage will not be allowed to resume immediately. Judge Walker said he wants to decide whether his order should be suspended while the proponents of the ban pursue their appeal in the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.
The judge ordered both sides to submit written arguments by Friday on the issue.
Prop 8, which outlawed gay marriages in California five months after the state Supreme Court legalized them, passed with 52 percent of the vote in November 2008 following the most expensive campaign on a social issue in U.S. history.
Both sides previously said an appeal was certain if Walker did not rule in their favor. The case would go first to the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, then the Supreme Court if the high court justices agree to review it.
Walker heard 13 days of testimony and arguments since January during the first trial in federal court to examine if states can prohibit gays from getting married.
The ruling puts Walker at the forefront of the gay marriage debate. The longtime federal judge was appointed by President Ronald Reagan.
The verdict was the second in a federal gay marriage case to come down in recent weeks. A federal judge in Massachusetts decided last month the state's legally married gay couples had been wrongly denied the federal financial benefits of marriage because of a law preventing the U.S. government from recognizing same-sex unions.
The plaintiffs in the California case presented 18 witnesses. Academic experts testified about topics ranging from the fitness of gay parents and religious views on homosexuality to the historical meaning of marriage and the political influence of the gay rights movement.
Former U.S. Solicitor General Theodore Olson delivered the closing argument for opponents of the ban. He told Judge Walker that tradition or fears of harm to heterosexual unions were legally insufficient grounds to discriminate against gay couples.
Olson teamed up with David Boies to argue the case, bringing together the two litigators best known for representing George W. Bush and Al Gore in the disputed 2000 election.
Defense lawyers called just two witnesses, claiming they did not need to present expert testimony because U.S. Supreme Court precedent was on their side. The attorneys also said gay marriage was an experiment with unknown social consequences that should be left to voters to accept or reject.
Former U.S. Justice Department lawyer Charles Cooper, who represented the religious and conservative groups that sponsored the ban, said cultures around the world, previous courts and Congress all accepted the "common sense belief that children do best when they are raised by their own mother and father."
In an unusual move, the original defendants, Brown, the state attorney general, and Schwarzenegger refused to support Proposition 8 in court.
That left the work of defending the law to Protect Marriage, the group that successfully sponsored the ballot measure that passed with 52 percent of the vote after the most expensive political campaign on a social issue in U.S. history.
Currently, same-sex couples can only legally wed in Massachusetts, Iowa, Connecticut, Vermont, New Hampshire and Washington, D.C.
